Paying for your pets treatment

Unfortunately, Vet bills can be quite expensive, especially with referral cases undergoing advanced procedures and surgery. To help you plan for this we will provide you with an estimated cost, either before your appointment or at the time of admission. Please do bear in mind though that this is an estimate, sometimes cases do not go as predicted and additional costs are accumulated. When this happens we will endeavour to keep you updated so that there are not too many nasty surprises.

Payment Methods:

We ask for payment when your pet goes home with you and we accept payment in the following ways:

  • Cash
  • Card – Debit and Credit (we are unable to accept American Express)
  • BACS payments which can be made at reception.

We ask that large payments are made in person by the cardholder, we are unable to accept large card payments over the phone.

Insurance

We cannot guarantee that your insurance company will cover all treatment costs. Different companies offer different policies and have limits on certain fees. We ask that you speak to your insurance company before your appointment to check your cover, if there are any exclusions and to give us permission to speak to the insurers on your behalf.

We can seek pre-authorisation from your insurers before treatment starts, protecting both yourself and us from an unexpected failed claim.

Direct Claims

At Eden Vets we can make direct claims, when fees are in excess of £1000, meaning your insurance company will pay us directly.

We will complete a claim form or online form, send it to your insurance company along with your pets history and invoice. To complete a direct claim we ask the following:

  • Sign the Insurance Direct Claim Disclaimer
  • Leave a copy of your Certificate of Insurance and Schedule
  • Leave a signed claim form with us
  • Pay the policy excesses
  • In the event of a failed claim the full amount is to be paid to Eden Referral Vets within 5 days of the failed claim.

If there is any part of the treatment that isn’t covered by your insurance it is your responsibility to make payment to Eden referral Vets.

Indirect Claims or Owner Claims

For treatment costs of less than £1000 we ask that payment is made to us and your insurance company will make payment directly to you. To complete an indirect claim we ask for the following information:

  • Leave a signed claim form with us (ticked to pay the policy holder)
  • Make payment in full for the treatment your pet has received.

You will receive payment from your insurance company minus any policy excesses.

Non-Insured Pets

If your pet is not insured we ask for all bills to be settled at the time of discharge and in some cases for a portion of the estimate to be paid at the time of admission.
